Step-by-step illustration of playing football

A fairly complex step in which we will draw the lower part of the football player’s body. First draw out the shorts and add the necessary folds of the fabric. Next, draw out the contours of the muscles of the legs and knee joints. Draw lines of high leg gaiters. Remove all the remaining unnecessary guidelines and move to the last step of the lesson about how to draw a football player.

Drawing of a Football Player

Given that football is such an action-packed game, it only makes sense that if students would like to learn how to draw a football player, it should be one that really shows movement. This tutorial shows students how to draw a body with arms and legs outstretched, in a position that looks like they would be running. A helmet and football uniform are needed to complete the look, and this drawing tutorial shares the easiest way to draw both.

If students continue with art studies, and want to learn more about drawing bodies, many classes and books will show the benefits of drawing a kind of wire frame of the entire body first, and not so much in sections as shown in this tutorial. That works great for those that are putting in some serious time to learn how to draw bodies. This way though will give lots of young students a feel for what an body looks when it’s running, and where those arms and legs might be placed.

Step 1

We will draw a football player in motion. First of all, let’s sketch his skeleton, as you can see, it’s very simple. First, sketch the head and the line of the spine. On this line we place the thorax and the pelvis. With the help of simple lines, we sketch the arms and legs. By the way, in the lesson about how to draw a man, we talked in more detail about the proportions of a man.

Step 2

In order to make it easier to draw details of the face, we will sketch two lines on the head. Next, sketch out the outlines of the neck and torso. With the help of very simple geometric figures, we sketch out the arms and legs. Note that in this step we draw everything very schematically, and used very light lines.

Step 3

A very simple step in which we add the most basic details to our soccer player drawing. We start from the top and will move down. Using the intersecting lines from the previous step, sketch out the eyes, nose and mouth. Next, draw the outlines of the hair, the ear and face. With the help of very light lines, we sketch out clothes and a ball.
