Classic Pet Portraits & Animal Drawings

Bernese Mountain Dog Portrait - Jess

Timeless and classic, black and white pencil drawn pet portraits. My traditional graphite pencil pet portraits are hand-drawn on a range of heavy weight papers and boards, including Strathmore, Bristol, Canford and Daler & Rowney, using high quality drawing pencils including the Faber Castell 9000 range.

As an artist working from photographs I have been able to work with clients worldwide and have shipped portraits to Australia, Canada, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Sweden and the United States.

Depending on suitable reference photos being available, pencil drawn pet portraits can be produced in a variety of styles. The classic head and neck study, a close-up, tight-cropped face only study, or a full body drawing.

Original portraits of your pet can be shared with other family members in the form of fine art Giclee Prints. Professionally printed and hand-signed.

If you need any further information regarding commissioning a classic pencil pet portrait of your dog or other animal, or for more information about gifting a pet portrait to a friend, please get in touch.

Commissioning a Portrait of your Pet

My pet portraits are produced with the greatest of attention to detail, capturing a true likeness of your beloved dog, cat, horse or other pet. As an artist, I strive to produce lifelike, realistic, character-full drawings and contemporary, colourful, pop-art and impressionist style paintings of your pet.

The quality of your reference photo will be directly reflected in the level of detail which can be included in your commission. The better photo you can provide, the more detailed the resulting pet portrait will be.

Handsome Bernese Mountain Dog Kona, shown below, is fondly remembered by Canadian photographer Jill Bingham Daniels who kindly gave permission for his photo to be used. The pop-art style portrait on the left has been painted on pre-mounted canvas while the portrait on the right was hand drawn on Pastelmat using coloured pencils.
