Decorative ideas for painting ceramic bunnies

Since we had recently remodeled our fireplace, I wanted to see how the bunnies would look against the wood and stone. They passed the test – I loved the look!

Simple Ways to Decorate for Easter (with White Ceramic Bunnies)

Do you decorate your home for Easter? Generally, I keep my Easter decorating pretty simple with a tablescape and a few seasonal accessories. One of my favorite Easter accessories are white bunnies. I’ve found that they seem to go with everything so I rotate the same ones around the house each year. Today, I’m sharing some of my ways to decorate for Easter with those simple white bunnies!

Of course, an Easter table setting is one easy way to display your white bunnies. For this table, I found the cutest napkin rings to include on each place setting.

Don’t you just love the statement they make on each setting? On the rest of the table, I included a few ceramic bunny bowls as well.

Colorful Easter Table with White Bunnies:

Just last week, I decorated my most recent Easter table. Since I went vibrant with some pinks, I needed to tone it all down with some white accessories…like my favorite white ceramic bunnies…

1st coat process

Next, I painted a coat of soft grey paint with Jeanne d’arc Living paints. Again, I didn’t cover every spot with the paint.

Also, I prefer a french style painting look, so for this layer, and layers to follow, I put the paint on fairly thick.

If there are cracks and crevices and any detail on a piece, I “puddle” the paint in those areas and apply it very thick so it will crack somewhat when it dries. I sometimes encourage the cracking by drying it quickly with a hairdryer.

You can see how thick the paint is in this picture.

I added a final layer of paint in antique cream in the Jeanne d’arc Living paint. I covered most of the bunny, but again, wasn’t real particular about coverage.

To finish the bunny, I distressed it a little by sanding in places. I added a layer of clear wax then light brown wax. I added the brown wax before the clear wax dried. By applying a thin coat of clear wax first, it keeps the brown wax from going on too dark.

I was easily able to wipe some of the brown wax back off to achieve the color I was going for.

1-Spray paint each bunny with white glossy spray paint.

2-Add a thick satin bow to each bunny. Tie a ribbon in a bow around each bunnies neck.

3-Add some springs of faux floral into the bow. I cut about 6 inches of the Wisteria to add to each bunny.

I loved adding the flowers and ribbon…and dressing up the white bunnies.

Place in a favorite spot this year for Easter decorations. You can keep them up all SPRING long. I love springtime, so these happy ceramic bunnies are perfect for our newly decorated spring spaces in our home.

We loved adding the bunnies to our mantle this year. They also make a great centerpiece for your Easter brunch or dinner.
