This eight color new paint by number kit’s design features pastel candy hearts for Valentine’s Day. Purchase two of our kits and plan your own romantic paint night in this Valentine’s Day!
Each kit comes packaged in a cotton drawstring bag and includes:
- Acrylic paint in numbered paint pots
- An artist’s quality paint brush
- The paint by number design screened onto an 8×10” panel. Our panels are made of wood and have 3/4” cradle. Each panel is primed with a smooth layer of white gesso. Unlike canvas, panel is very smooth and easy to paint on. It looks great hung with or without a frame, and isn’t easily dented.

Unlike paint by number kits of the 50s and 60s, we like to keep ours simple. Most kits have no more than seven colors and all of the designs can be completed by children as young as 8.

Materials
- White cardstock & printer
- Acrylic paints
- Paint pots or small air-tight containers
- Paintbrushes
- Bakers twine or ribbon
- Scissors
- A marker
- A photo of you and your sweetheart, a computer, and (optional) Photoshop
This step is optional, but helps if you are using an image with a lot of different colors in it. This will localize the colors in your photo.
1. Open the photo in Photoshop, and bump up the saturation (Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/Saturation).
2. Change the mode of the image to Indexed color (Image -> Mode -> Indexed Color)
3. A menu will pop up asking what kind of indexing should happen. Select a Local (Selective) palette, with 20 colors, forced in Black & White. Click OK.
4. Change the mode back to RGB (Image -> Mode -> RGB Color). Save the image.
Step 2
Head over to your web browser and to go PBNify.com. This online program makes it easy to transform an photo into a DIY paint-by-number image. Upload your photo to the program.
Next, you’ll be asked to select a color palette. You’ll do this by selecting points within the photo. Choose colors that appear frequently in the photo (like how I picked the green of the background, a skin tone, the the black of my dress, the white of my fiancee’s shirt, etc.). Keep in mind how many paints you have containers for. My paint pots came in strips of six containers each, so I knew I needed to keep my color palette to six or twelve colors.
Take a screenshot of your color palette! You will reference this when picking paints!
Click “PBNify,” and wait for the program to create a numbered outline (this can take a while).
Step 3
Once the photo has been converted, click “outlines.” This will open just the outline in a different window. You can print it right from here, or save the image as a PDF for resizing.
Print the outline on cardstock.

Looking for an easy Valentine activity? These Valentines Day color by number sheets are an easy activity with no prep involved. They are also a great way for kids to learn their colors.
If your child cannot read, add the color (by making a colored mark) beside the color name for them to know which number matches the color. It will also help them learn to read each color this way!

How To Print The Coloring Pages
Make sure you review the Print Preview before printing. Every printer is different so make sure you select “Print to Fit to Size” or look at the printer Scale Features (you can print at 90% scale) in your printer settings so that it does not print cut off if you are having issues.
Choose between hearts, flowers, candy and more. Or print off all 6 and complete them all!
