Are you looking for a unique way to celebrate a special occasion this spring? Paint nights are a a fun way to celebrate and get creative at the same time. There’s nothing like a hands-on activity for creating lasting memories, plus each guest will have their very own painting to commemorate the special evening! If you’re new to hosting paint parties, don’t worry! We’ve got some tips and tricks to help you host the perfect paint night.

With Social Artworking reading through our step-by-step directions and completing a copy of your chosen painting ahead of time is all the training you’ll need to lead your guests through the painting process, but here’s some more tips to create the best party experience for your guests.

1. Choose a fun theme

Adding a theme to your party is a fantastic way to get in the party spirit! Order any themed decorations you want such as plates, napkins, tablecloths, and banners to give your guests an unforgettable party. We have some great examples of past paint parties other Social Artworking teachers have thrown on our blog to help you get started.

Springtime is perfect for outdoor get-togethers. Michelle’s Party Plan-it did this adorable camping painting with her son using our Lone Mountains design. What a creative way to add a special memory to your next camping trip!

Erin from Everyday Party Magazine threw this lovely outdoor paint party using our Springtime Floral design. Aren’t all of the fresh flowers and farmhouse style touches simply gorgeous?

2. Create a playlist

Coming up with a playlist for your paint party is a great way to expand on a theme and put everyone in the party mood. Put on some upbeat tunes, soothing instrumentals, or whatever suits your group. Just make sure to keep the volume low enough for people to chat once the festivities start!

Lydi Out Loud planned a beachy themed relaxing vibe for this party below. Let the summer beach music roll!

3. Plan out your painting space

Make sure to arrange space for all of your guests easels and supplies, as well as provide lighting for them to see their paint properly. Cover floors with drop cloths so you don’t have to worry about paint spills. Or if the weather is nice, consider throwing your party outside to make it even easier.

This outdoor panda party from Everyday Party Magazine made for an adorable birthday party, and there was no need to worry about messes or rearrange furniture!

4. Serve food and drinks

Plan out your menu ahead of time to make things easier for you. Keep it simple by including make-ahead dishes if possible, and make large batches of cocktails that guests can serve themselves.

This brunch painting party from Lydi Out Loud is a great example of how to plan a crowd-pleasing menu. Mimosa anyone?

5. Pick a great design

Social Artworking has so many designs to chose from perfect for painters of all skill levels. Pick according to a special theme, occasion, season, or activity you and your friends love.

Here are some of our recent designs to help spark your creativity!

6. Remember to relax, and not expect perfection!

It can be easy to get caught up in hosting and forget to join in on the fun. So take a deep breathe, relax, and maybe even pour yourself a glass of wine in celebration of a job well done. A successful paint party is about having a great time, not necessarily making the best paintings! So share a laugh with those you love, and make sure you take lots of pictures of the fun.

Cute Spring Painting Ideas

Monika is one of my favourite illustrators that I found on Instagram and always has such cute ideas for her work. This illustration offers some cute ideas that you could paint such as strawberries, birdhouses, bees, and more.

Reference Books for Flowers

Obviously, flowers have to be a huge part of Spring! It’s when all of the blossoms start blooming and those petals start opening. I love the idea of referencing informational books to paint flowers in your own style. Use them for colour inspiration too!

Create Your Own Bumblebee Painting

Bumblebees are always super fun to paint! They are full of different textures and play with a little bit of opacity so they work wonderfully with watercolour paints.
