USC’s Mason Cobb, Painting with a Twist host charity event to benefit youth programs

              USC

USC linebacker Mason Cobb’s passion outside of football is painting.

Cobb was introduced to art at a young age because “growing up my mom didn’t let us play video games and use any electronics. She always got us crayons and markers and paint.”

While it may be unusual for a football player to enjoy art and painting as much as Cobb, he and Painting with a Twist are looking to make an immediate impact.

“I really started painting in high school and it was kind of my way to mediate and kind of unplug from football and school and do something that takes time and patience,” Cobb said.

Cobb and Painting with a Twist partnered up for a special charity painting event over the weekend in Santa Clarita, CA. Cobb led a class of students to teach them how to paint, and he signed autographs and hung out with some of the kids in attendance.

“When I was told the news that I would be teaching a painting class and signing autographs it was awesome because it’s not something you hear about everyday,” Cobb said.

It makes sense for co-owners of Painting with a Twist, Bobbete Laureano and her husband, to be the ones in charge of setting up this event based on their extensive football background. The Laureanos live and breathe USC football and their own children are involved with the youth football programs in Santa Clarita making this event even more special.

“We are excited to host this event and to support Youth programs in the community, ” Laureano said in a statement. “Mason Cobb is an exceptional athlete and artist, and we are looking forward to seeing his creativity on display.”

Painting with a Twist is considered a paint-and-sip franchise that ranges over 300 different locations across the country. The goal behind the company is to offer a fun and relaxing environment where painters can enjoy wine, art and the ability to socialize.

“After we met Mason we realized that he is an amazing young man and want to do everything we can to support him,” Laureano said.
