Event Types

Our events can be divided into “Guided Painting” events and “Open Painting” sessions.

Guided Painting Events

PaintEvents Guided Painting by Song Yu

This is our main event type and is suitable for all levels, including “first time” painters. The idea is that you create your own painting under the step-by-step guidance of one of our hosts. Prior experience is not required or expected. The last time you held a brush was in primary school? No problem, we’ve got you covered! Our mission is to help you (re)discover how much fun it is to play with colors and let you feel the joy of going home with your very own masterpiece.

While most people roughly follow the instructions (adding their own character and style!), you are also more than welcome to join these sessions if you want to paint something different.

Tickets & More Information

Open Painting Sessions

Open Painting Session

Our second type of events are open painting sessions at our own studio. These are intended for people who want to paint independently while spending time with like-minded people. At least one of our hosts is always there for inspiration, support or just a second opinion. In contrast to the guided paint events, however, there are no step-by-step instructions.

No registration or tickets are required for these sessions. We offer you the option to buy materials from us (canvases, paper, coloring books) and use our colors for a reasonable fee. You may also bring your own materials, in which case we just charge a small fee for the use of the studio. Our main goal is to turn our studio into a hub where art enthusiasts can meet and build a community. More information and prices are on our studio page.

Dates and times of open painting sessions can be found in our event calendar.

Gift Vouchers

Give your friends and loved ones a unique experience. PaintEvents gift vouchers can be bought online and are delivered to your inbox directly after the purchase in the form of a high quality PDF for printing. Vouchers are valid for 3 years and the voucher code can be used by the recipient for any of our Events & Workshops.

Private Events

PaintEvents are also great fun as private partys or team building events. Lern more below:

Paint@Home

During the lockdown period we’ve developed a Paint@Home offer that will remain available. Besides videos and webinars, we also offer attractive material packages that will get you painting at home in no time! Treat yourself to a creative time-out at home:

Building a Community of Painting Enthusiasts

We want to make it easier for people in Zurich to spend time with crafty activities and to meet like minded people. In order to know what kind of activities you would like to see in the future we are open for all sorts of feedback and input. We’d love to hear from you on facebook, instagram or via email.

What is paint and sip?

Paint and sip is as simple as it sounds: a class that involved painting an artwork while enjoying a few of your beverages as you work. Many businesses have taken their own spin on the paint and sip concept over the years. It’s known by many different names including everything from wine and paint to drunk painting, brush and sip or just wine painting. No matter the name, the idea remains the same. You rock up to one of the many paint and sip studios in Sydney with a bottle of wine in hand (or whatever your favourite beverage is) and the room will be set up with easels, canvases and all the painting materials you will need! Then all you need to do is pour yourself a glass and follow the step-by-step instructions to create your masterpiece. The hardest part will be remembering not to dip your paintbrush into your wine glass but the water jar instead!

From what we can gather, organised paint parties really started to take off in America in 2007. One of the first business ventures was the New Orleans based Corks N Canvas (now Painting With a Twist) founded by Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney, which went on to become one of the biggest wine and paint franchises in America. The idea was simple: open a studio where like-minded people, groups of friends and even work colleagues could come to spend a fun night painting and drinking. Since then, countless variations have sprung up in cities all over the world and paint and sip is used as a fun way to activate bars and community spaces. This idea became so worldwide because it’s the perfect activity if you’re searching for hens party ideas, unique birthday gift experiences or team building activities in Sydney.

Why do people love it so much?

What’s not to love? It doesn’t matter what kind of party you’re throwing, paint and sip is a proven hit with people all over the world mainly because you don’t need any experience to do it. No one cares if you’ve never been to a painting class before or you haven’t picked up a paintbrush since primary school, because it’s all about getting a bit tipsy and having the courage to give it a go. Creative classes like paint and sip classes in Sydney offer anyone the chance to get out of the house, be surrounded by friendly people and try something they haven’t done before. And the fact that you get to have a glass of wine while you’re doing it makes it even more enjoyable!

The best part about paint and sip classes in Sydney is that there is a whole world of artworks to choose from. Whether you want to create Van Gogh’s classic Starry Night artwork or dive into the street art scene by painting a quirky portrait of Snoop Dogg, there really is something for everyone. Most paint and sip studios will rotate their huge bank of artworks to cater for all types of artists. No matter how difficult the artwork might look, every class is open for beginners as your expert artist will break it down into super-simple steps over just a few hours. The best part? If you love wine and paint classes in Sydney you can just keep going back! Since you can select which artwork you want to paint, you’ll never have the same experience or get the same result from different paint and sip classes. If you want to take the creative reins, even more, try going along to a paint your partner or paint your pet class! These funky portraits also make great birthday gift ideas for a loved one.

Four tips for getting the most out of your first paint and sip class:

1. Don’t be afraid to ask for help: The teacher isn’t there to judge your painting ability. If you’re having trouble getting started or following the instructions the teacher will be more than happy to help you out!

2. Don’t judge yourself: It’s easy to say your painting looks terrible but just remember, everyone’s painting style is unique and there’s no right way to paint! Plus, it’s pretty incredible to witness everyone in the class create their own fantastic renditions from the same example artwork.

3. Be adventurous: It wouldn’t be art without a little risk. When you’re going through the painting process, don’t be afraid to change things up a little and put your personality into your art! Thankfully, a bit of liquid courage often helps with that.

4. Have fun: Paint and sip classes in Sydney are designed to be fun. Leave whatever baggage you have at the class door and get ready to let your emotions flow straight onto the canvas.
