If you’ve ever seen our hot air balloons in person – whether through our renowned aerial marketing, unbranded tethering at events or somewhere else – you’ll know that, on the surface, our hot air balloon designs are something to be truly marvelled at.
…But how do these amazing balloons come to be in the first place?
Our hot air balloon design and manufacturing process at Exclusive Ballooning has been perfected over many years by our in-house team of designers, engineers and seamstresses. It’s certainly not easy, but it is highly rewarding – especially when we see the incredible impact that our balloons have for those who commission and use them!
Here’s a sneak peek of what goes on behind the scenes…
1. We start with the initial design…
If you are considering a balloon with your company branding or for a project or event, the first step is for us to create a visual to show you what it could look like. There is no charge or obligation for this service – it just allows us to see how it could look and confirm any artwork costs involved!
2. Next, we produce an art visual.
If you decide to go ahead with the project, we’ll produce an artist visual for you to approve before working out the technicalities of the balloon’s structure.
3. After that comes the pattern design…
The pattern design is laid out onto and fabric, which is cut into hundreds of pieces to create a vast 3D jigsaw puzzle. Then, the seamstress works her magic, sewing all the pieces together with a grid system of horizontal and vertical load tapes.
4. Then it’s time for the balloon’s registration and certification
We’ll then apply for the balloon’s unique registration before beginning the certification process, and finally…
5. Voila!
The balloon is finally ready for its internal rigging and its very first test flight!
