How to Draw Rose - Rose Drawing Step by Step

Come on little friends, let’s start drawing this rose. Here are some easy and simple steps to draw a beautiful rose sketch.

Requirement Materials :

Here are the materials we need to draw this rose picture.

  • White paper
  • Pencil
  • Pencil sharpener
  • Eraser

Drawing a Large Flower Petal.

Begin by drawing a large flower petal. To start, create a clean margin around the white page using a scale. Once the margin is set, sketch a generously sized rose petal at the center of the page. Remember, the petals should be slightly elongated for an authentic look. Feel free to add your personal touch to the petal shape, as the beauty of the rose lies in the uniqueness of its petals.

Drawing Additional Petals.

Now, let’s move on to drawing more petals. Duplicate the first petal, placing it right next to the original. Then, add smaller petals curving towards the top of the flower. The visual guide above will help you get the right curve. Ensure that the base of the petals is slightly thicker, gradually tapering as they reach the top.

Creating the Flower’s Stalk.

Give life to your rose by drawing its stalk. Position a delicate stalk just below the flower. Visualize the origin of the stalk behind one of the active leaves. This positioning will give the rose a charming, slightly left-leaning appearance.

Here we just knew how to draw a rose. Now we sketch the rose easily and simply.

Adding Depth and Shadows.

Now comes the exciting part – adding depth and shadows! This step adds dimension to your drawing. Begin by shading the right side of the flower petals. Apply gentle shading both above and below to create a realistic 3D effect. For the petals’ edges, make them slightly darker towards the outline and gradually lighter towards the center.

Enhancing Petal Details.

Continue by shading the first set of petals with precision and patience. Apply shading in subtle lines from the base of the petals. Gradually darken the edges of the petals, emphasizing the outline, and gradually lighten the center for a realistic texture.

Painting the Top Petals.

To paint the upper petals, follow an easy approach. Remember, coloring the petals is all about mastering shading techniques. The petals can be colored to your preference, following the shading rules. The goal is to make each petal appear connected seamlessly to its neighbors.

Perfecting the Stalk and Leaf.

Bring the rose to life by meticulously shading the stalk. Emphasize the thorns by adding slightly darker and pointed shading along the edges. Define the stem’s top and bottom with a darker hue. Now, proceed to color the leaf. Add a deeper shade to the inner parts of the petals, leaving the outer areas white. Sketch the outer section of the leaf with small, delicate lines.

You must draw the picture and send me your picture with the link given below. I will definitely try to give your picture in my story.

Step 1

At first draw an oval, tapering upwards. It is the contours of the future rosebud. Under the oval draw a line, as a guide for the stem.

Step 2

Now at the top of the oval draw a shape similar to the comma, which would become the center of the rosebud. If you do not want to draw a fully blooming flower, you should draw this shape very small.

Step 3

Start to draw the petals from the center, as in our example. These petals around the center of the rose bud should also be very small and neat.
