How to Draw Rose and Water Drops in Pastel Pencils
This is for all beginners out there, (and people with more experience are very welcome, too!). If you have just finished the beginner’s guide, then try this lesson next. There is quite a bit of wiggle room in this tutorial, you don’t need to stay in the lines and can really push the pastel to see what it does.
What will You Learn?
We will look at creating a structural underpainting with limited colours to start with. The lesson focuses on creating the beautiful velvet-soft texture of the petals and not only shows you how to do it but also shows you why it works. This is so you can re-create the effect in other drawings if you want to.
We will also look at creating water drops on the petals, again this is a great little addition to lots of drawings so you can start to collect a few different skills to use again in your own art.
How is it Taught?
You will get access to a full workbook which has every step, pencil and technique written down for you. This is to compliment the video tutorial which shows me drawing the same rose and talking you through my process.
**This tutorial didn’t have the optimum video angle, it is still very easy to follow, but my hand sometimes obscure the pencil I am drawing with. I do apologise for this, it has been amended in later filming and reflected in the slightly lower price. **

How to Draw a Hand hold a Rose- (Step by Step) Easy guide for beginners
I’m going to draw small shapes step by step, so take this drawing at your own pace.
Let’s start with this U shape first – this is going to be the template of our little rose.
Now, draw 1 rose petal – just draw a straying line like this from the somewhat middle.
Now, unfold that petal like this:
Now, draw another petal unfolded on the side like this:
Next, we are going to draw the outer petals of the rose – so draw 2 petals on the side of the rose like this:
Now, draw 2 small folded petals like this near the top.
Next, draw the outer petals on the other side like this:
We’re done drawing the upper part of the rose – let’s draw 2 small wilted petals at the bottom of the rose like this:
Next, draw the stem and draw a leaf too!
Now, start drawing the hand – we’ll start with the index finger.
Complete drawing the index finger like so:
Next, draw the middle finger folded downwards like this:
Next, draw the ring finger folded downwards like this:
Next, draw the little finger and the rest of the hand.
Complete drawing the palm like this:
Next draw the thumb behind the index and middle finger like this and color the hand any color you want.
Next, color the rose – you can color the flower any color you want – I’m going with the standard red just for fun.
Next, I’m adding some pink touches to the rose just to give it some depth.
