How to Draw an Easter Bunny

In many countries, the symbol of Easter is a bunny. The drawing shows a cute bunny holding a basket of eggs. This lesson will be very useful for you, because you will practice drawing a bunny and you will be able to apply the acquired skills in the future. For example, you can draw such a picture on a postcard for your family or friends.

How to Draw an Easter Bunny

Prepare the base. Determine the size of your drawing and draw circles that are located next to each other. This way you will mark the main parts of the head.
Draw the outlines of the ears and torso. At the top, draw two smooth lines to indicate the position of the ears, and at the bottom, draw two oval shapes that are located side by side.
Depict the outline of the basket. With the help of smooth lines draw the main part of the basket and at the top add the outline of the handle with a single curved line.
Sketch out the eyes. On the top circle draw two oval-shaped eyes and add the eyelashes. Note that the eyes are set far apart.
Add the rest of the outlines of the head. Make the upper outline of the head clearer and use curved lines to depict the sides of the head.
Draw the ears. Use the guidelines as a guide and give the ears the desired shape. Draw the outline of the inside of the ear.
Depict the front of the muzzle. Continue the lines and add the bottom outline of the muzzle. Using a curved line, depict the nose and mouth.
Add the front paws. From the head, draw curved lines to the sides and depict the lower parts of the front paws, add the fingers using short strokes.
Sketch out the torso. On each side, draw a curved line to indicate the lateral contours of the torso, while focusing on the auxiliary lines.
Draw the back paw. Continue adding the outlines of the bunny body and now depict the half-bent hind leg using smooth, curved lines.
Depict the basket. Use the lines you drew earlier as a guide and make the outline of the basket clearer. Give the handle the required thickness.
Sketch out the eggs. Now you have to draw some eggs that are in the basket. First you can draw the eggs in the foreground, and then all the rest.
Add details. On the face of the bunny, draw the long mustache on each side and, using short strokes, depict the fluffy fur on all parts of the body.
Correct inaccuracies. Now carefully look at the drawing and if you notice mistakes, then immediately correct them. Carefully remove all unnecessary lines.
Color the drawing. Color the bunny fur in gray, color the basket in brown. Use bright colors for coloring eggs. Don’t forget to highlight the dark areas.

Steps to draw an easter bunny
- Draw a hill and two lines for Bunny’s body.
- Draw a tail and an oval head.
- Draw ears, tummy and inner ears.
- Draw whiskers and eggs around Bunny and rolling down the hill.
- Draw some arms, patterns on the eggs and some grass.
- Draw some loopy lines between the eggs and flowers on the hill.
- Use paints or crayons to color your drawing. Outline in black marker.
- Use oil pastel or crayon to add extra detail!

Sharp Elbows
At the moment the lower arms connect rather abruptly to the outer curves of the body. Soften the connections by creating curved elbow joins on both arms, as shown in the image below.
More Construction Lines
Now rub out the four construction lines, shown in red in the image below, to complete the bunny’s body.
How to Draw the Bunny’s Legs
We have our bunny sitting (or squatting if you like) back on its haunches. What you can see are its feet to the sides and its knees sticking up.
The Feet
For the feet, draw two lines that start from underneath the body and move outwards at an angle to each other, one directed upwards the other somewhat horizontal. Then join them with a soft curve to make the toes.
The knees are simply a curve that starts from the lower body and ends on top of the foot, again its the same for both sides.
And those are the bunny’s legs, wasn’t that easy?
Our bunny is more or less complete but there are a few little things we can add to really finish it off.
Draw a tail on one side of the bunny, place the tail in-between the bunny’s body and its knee, use the same spiky effect as for the tufts on the cheeks.
Finally draw a couple of curved lines on each foot for the toes and a couple of lines on each paw.
Complete the Bunny with Some Colour
So you’re happy with how to draw a bunny, what about colouring it in? Try and experiment with different colour combinations. For this little green fella I simply used Coloured Pencils on normal printer paper – you don’t need special equipment!
