Product Questions and Answers

What do I do if it remains tacky on the sprayed surface?

– Asked by rickG on 08-Feb-14

Answer

The Krylon Crystal Clear spray should dry within 10-15 minutes. Avoid over spraying. If needed, spray multiple thin coats from the appropriate distance to avoid creating a thick tacky application.

We print our product labels at Brendita’s Body Works and they have to be water resistant. We found that this product will help to repel water and lengthen the life span of the labels.

This stuff is amazing!

I love this stuff. Ive been using it for several years now and think it works great for sealing drawings and transfers on canvas. I have also used it in the past to cheat drying time a bit on my oils. If the painting is still slightly tacky, I just spray some on, wait a few minutes and its dry enough to paint on without smearing or mudding the layers beneath it.

I use this to seal in the ink for my decals that I print from my ink jet. Perfect. Bought extra! 😀

This is the perfect way to finish an acrylic painting. It gives the desired protection, consistant sheen and dries incredibly fast. I have used nothing else for my acrylics for years and they still look as good today as when first completed.

This gloss is lovely for keeping my watercolor paintings looking their best – it doesn’t run the colors at all and it minimizes the glare from my camera.

I’ve found Crystal Clear to be an effective final coating for most all of my original work and prints.Even including my work on bone. The matte finish also enhances color along with allowing me to photogragh the work without dealing with annoying glare. Its a winner and is a mainstay in my studio.

I use this product to create a protective coating on crafts. I have found it to be a high quality acrylic spray; however, it is important to note that it doesn’t create a “gloss” finish – it creates a matte, in my opinion.

Good quality clear acrylic spray. Quick drying and good even coverage. Very pleased with this product.

How to apply the product

Clear Top Coat can be applied by brush, roller, airless spray or air spray equipment.

When applying to art, three thin layers should be applied using a sponge roller or a technique familiar to the artist. If air bubbles are noted (e.g if using a sponge roller over art) then simple blowing pops them easily. Clear Top Coat should not be poured over artwork as this will result in a thick layer. It is designed as a thin layer product and gives best results in thin films. Avoid pooling in valleys (always spread to a thin coat).

Characteristics

Imparts a gloss or matt finish that is stain resistant and easy to clean. Dries to a hard finish making it suitable for floor applications in low traffic areas.

Mix Gloss and Matt products together (1 to1) to get an in-between sheen finish.

Forms a relatively hard dry film but it still has sufficiently flexibility to be used as a top coat on canvas art that will be rolled.

UV Resistant so suitable for interior and exterior applications.

Despite having a high flow (which is required for penetration and to give a good level finish) it does not tend drip or run excessively. Dilution with a little water is fine if an even higher flow is required.

Not suitable for the following:

Clear Top Coat should not be applied over granite, slate or other natural stone.
Clear Top Coat should not be applied over oil based paints.

Acrylic Pouring Art that contains silicone or other oil based cell forming chemicals should be cleaned, to make the surface relatively oil free, before applying Clear Top Coat.

Cl;ear Top Coat should not be used on floors in high traffic areas such as schools.
Keep out of reach of children

All our products should be kept out of reach of children under 5 years and anybody who may tend to place items or liquids in their mouths should be supervised. Even packing can become a choking hazard.
